I Like To Walk……
Since my visitation from the dreaded Stroke Ogre in 2016, I have discovered the joys of walking
As well as strengthening the muscles in my right leg and multiple benefits to my physical wellbeing my daily walks work wonders in many other ways
It gives me an opportunity to enjoy periods of solitude, where I can be alone with my thoughts, think about my rehab, what I am currently working on and generally empty “my mental sock drawer”
I have learnt from experience to carry a scrap of paper and a pen to record thoughts and ideas - even though my writing looks like a 4 year old’s- I have invented a new type face- Lacunar Copperplate!
The real benefit is that I have met many people in my neighborhood, and what a diverse and interesting group they are- the 89 year old lady whom I check in on every afternoon; the many retirees walking their dogs; the amazing number of rescue greyhounds out there and the 2 lovely delightful Indian ladies with their sing-song accents who are sheer joys to greet every morning!
These are only a fraction of the people I have met- the house builders I see every morning who greet me!
These people do not know the joy and happiness they spread- I arrive back from my walks uplifted and grateful to be able to enjoy the privilege.
