Some time ago I wrote a blog titled “My Long and Winding Road’ in which I likened my rehab journey to such a road, long with twists and turns, potholes and bumps.
As I encountered these obstacles, with effort and dedication to my rehab, would overcome them and continue on.
I also made the point that my rehab journey is unlike people who sprain their ankles all the ligaments. It's not a short term journey, rather it a perpetual road that we Stroke Survivors are often obliged to travel.
Today after 6 years, 7 months and 21 days \{2421 days\} since my Stroke.
I was able, by myself -
Use a normal shower, I ditched the chair
Then shave [ applying the Nivea Deep Gel on Mon visage? without lacerating any vital organs.
This was a major achievement for me.-Why am I telling you this
My reason is and has always been - To keep going on your rehab journey it may well be that long and winding road I've described but if you persist you will all get as far as possible down that road to our destination
I'm a realist we might never get back to the person that we were before our Stroke but I am convinced that if we keep going we will get to be as close as possible to our Pre Stroke self.
If you trip or fall on your Rehab Road, Don't give up, pick yourself up and as the song goes start all over again
One of my major objectives in rehab was to be able to shower and shave by myself without somebody standing there waiting for me to fall over or cut myself.
Now I've arrived at that, the next step is off I go again to my next destination.
if it works for me it'll work for you OK
