Hi everyone, just for any ones information in Ipswich area 4305 the stroke support group at silkstone Church is non functional as it unfortunately folded in 2019. As I had a stroke in October 2022 does anyone know of any support group close to Ipswich 4305 cheers David Giles

Thank you for letting us know about the Ipswich Support Group not being active. We are taking the steps to remove this group from our list for other stroke survivors.
Unfortunately, the closest in-person stroke support groups to Ipswich are 40 minutes to 1 hour away. We hope that this will change in the future as stroke support groups can be a wonderful way of reducing social isolation and connecting with others who may have a similar lived experience. The groups that I have found are:
The Stroke Foundation do not manage these groups, but we do try and keep this list up to date, so please let us know if you come across any others that are no longer running.
You may also be interested in the support groups provided by Synapse, Australia’s Brain Injury Organisation here. You can contact them for more information about any upcoming groups near you at 1800 673 074.
If you are a stroke survivor aged 18-65, there are multiple ABIOS STEPS Programs nearby to Ipswich. This program is for adults with an acquired brain injury, including stroke, to improve community life and connect people together. There is also the Genyus Network (a trauma survivors network developed by a young stroke survivor) who run online support groups called the Coffee Club which you may be interested in.
