The Stroke Foundation has prepared draft guidelines for stroke management that provide evidence-based recommendations relating to:
- pre-hospital care
- early assessment and management of stroke
- acute medical and surgical management
- rehabilitation
- managing complications
- secondary prevention
- discharge planning and transfer of care
- community participation and long-term care.
These guidelines will be submitted to the NHMRC for approval under section 14A of the National Health and Medical Research Council Act 1992.
The Stroke Foundation will be seeking submissions on the draft guidelines as part of the approval process, from 1–30 November 2016.
The draft guidelines will be available to view electronically or to download in PDF from the Stroke Foundation website (www.strokefoundation.com.au), InformMe (www.informme.org.au) and enableme (www.enableme.org.au). A link to the feedback form will also be available via these websites during the consultation period.
Availability
The draft guidelines will be made available to the public on 1 November 2016 and all submissions must be received by 5pm 30 November 2016.
