Dear fellow stroke survivors and carers. I've been reading a lot of posts lately and I must say that often I am left speechless. The posts are so inspiring, full of hope and never-say-die attitude! I wish, I could meet you all in person and chat. But, for the time being, I'll continue to visit this site and be inspired.

I love the fact that 'enable me' allows us to express the dichotomy of having a stroke. Yes, we are affected with a plethora of effects, and varying intensities of those effects, but at the same time having a stroke opens a new world taht, while we may not have wished to be part of it, gives us an insight not only into life with with a disabily but also an inight into our own strength and frailty.
I know that I am only partaking in art lessons because having a stroke put an end to me working so whilst I am not 'happy' to have had a stroke I love my art lessons and really appreciate the chance to explore my artistic side.
I agree with your comment about this site being inspiring. The encouragement we receive from others on here as well as knowing that we can 'vent', not be judged and receive empathetic responses makes thsi forum so important.

I agree with you Tony. It is so important that we are able to express ourselves and tell our stories of stroke and more importantly our stories of recovery. I had an 'epiphany' this morning: I don't want to be defined by the stroke I had, I wish to be defined by my recovery.
