FAILED PFO
Had a stroke July 2019, PFO closure September 2019. I was meant to have my closure checked in March/April 2020 but couldn’t get seen due to no phone calls or emails returned or COVID restrictions etc. Asked to see another specialist to get my heart signed off in August 2020, seen a doctor with another appointment in November 2020, then the borders shut again due to COVID. Finally got an appointment for March 2021 to have my PFO closure checked, and the results were not good. The bubble test out of a scale from 0-6 (0 being closed and 6 open), mine was a 5. One week later I had a TOE procedure that confirmed my closure as not working at all, the device was open 1cm instead of being closed and it was twisted and rubbing against my aortic in two spots. The next Saturday I was booked in for open heart surgery to have the devise removed and have a piece of cow sown in to save my life. My advice is to everyone, don’t be pushed around by the medical/government situations and put things off. Keep calling and demanding. I am so blessed I didn’t have another stroke because I was the forgotten one in this bloody COVID madness. Fight for your health rights.
