Hemostasis Today speaks to a specialised global audience — clinicians, researchers, industry innovators, policy thinkers, and lived‑experience advocates — all of whom rely on credible, concise updates that connect emerging evidence with real‑world practice.
My journey began through the Lived Experience of stroke — a moment that reshaped my life and opened a vista I could never have anticipated. Over time, lived experience has matured along with my lived expertise, extending across telehealth, rehabilitation, governance, and consumer advocacy.
To have my work included in a platform that brings these voices together is deeply meaningful.
As the Inaugural Chair of the Consumer and Community Advisory Group and now as an Honorary Consumer Fellow of the George Institute for Global Health and contributing to the Brain Health Group, I’ve been quietly proud to help shape research and clinical thinking in ways that keep the patient voice at the Institute.
Along the way, mentoring and lecturing have become important parts of my contribution, allowing me to support emerging leaders and share the disciplined, reflective approach that has guided my own work.
After ten years,my Giving Back strategy has grown into a broad clinical landscape, and seeing my writing recognised internationally reinforces the deep satisfaction I draw from contributing to efforts that genuinely improve care, understanding, and outcomes.
If there is a lesson in this journey, it is that Lived Experience — when nurtured and allowed to evolve — becomes a powerful form of expertise that can strengthen systems, enrich research, and illuminate paths forward for others.
