More Furphy

It had to happen! Just as I was trying to link think tanks to those furphy’s horse drawn water tanks which were instrumental in supporting horse troop’s victories in IQ 14-18 desert campaigns, the use of think tanks for grouping of economic forecasts? Disappeared. So just what led to the odd name? I would like to think it was based on the furphy tank as a source of security (life and death) trading news.

However, there is soon to be a T.V. series called think tanks.

I suppose this will be about economic forecasting and our water carriers are safe in some dim corner of history.

Academics have no trouble with change to forecasting. New figures received on Monday invalidate current forecasts, which are then fixed by Friday. No problem. Forecasts are all subject to everything remaining the same, which they never do, because of human nature.
