Travis had an embolic stroke from a clot in his heart affecting the left hemisphere. This has caused right-sided weakness and aphasia also causing apraxia of speech.
The upper limb at this stage, is very weak and not functional. There is some activity, but spasticity is interfering with full potential. Leg power is better and spasticity again is affecting the ability to walk.
As a result of this Travis has been referred to a specialist that will look at doing some focused botulinum toxin injection in the upper limb and lower limbs.
Travis also has a history of hyperlipidaemia, Ischaemic Heart disease and severe peripheral vascular disease causing changes in his legs, heart.
Travis has been seen by two vascular surgeons and made the diagnosis of inoperable severe peripheral vascular disease of lower limbs. If he undergoes surgery, there is risk of amputation.
