Mum’s carers asked me to look for a top with a larger neckline; as sometimes she wouldn’t bend her arms and wasn’t so easy to dress. So, look I did - I didn’t want a top that was low cut or wrap around - wasn’t there something with a couple of press studs at the neckline (like baby wear)? In a word, No!
So, with no fashion industry experience (except as a consumer!) I set about developing a t-shirt for people with mobility issues. I’ve called it Flex-A-Tee and during Covid-19, whilst I’ve been stood down from work, I’ve had time to pull everything together and to launch www.flexatee.com
From the original idea the design evolved: the press studs are down both sleeves allowing it to be brought over the shoulders or up over the hips, the tee became reversible - giving a choice as to whether the press stud opening faces forwards or back, with a style to be worn by men and women, and I made it a high quality product of 100% soft cotton.
It is truly an adaptable top - it is up to each individual wearer (or carer/dresser of the wearer) to discover the best configuration of press stud opening to allow easy access.
I hope the Flex-A-Tee can help people dress comfortably and without stress.
