Yes, I agree with you that it is best for people to keep their independence and using what they can and not “give in”; sometimes it’s time to look for a less confrontational solution for the health of everyone. 

My Mum was in her late 80’s with severe Alzheimer’s and would lock her arms and that was that no moving her (just like when a child doesn’t want to get dressed); she’d also had a withered muscle in one shoulder and didn’t have full ROM when she wasn’t locking her arms.  It was difficult for her to follow directions. The wonderful carers had a “non-confrontational” care model and would not force anything on those they cared for; so they too were asking for something that would help everyone. 

That’s why I designed, developed and manufactured Flex-A-Tee.

Personally, I’ve got a “very sore shoulder” and for many weeks kept dressing myself in everyday clothes.  Then I though “this is ridiculous” use your own product, and I must say it has made getting dressed much more relaxing and it just looks like I’m wearing a t-shirt. We thought I’d torn my rotator cuff but it turns out to be bursitis. Still painful but an easier recovery.

Yes, I thought about Velcro during the initial stages but decided if it’s not lined up properly it can be scratchy on the skin, plus it gets bits and pieces caught up in it. 

Hospital gowns and night gowns are part of the thought process too.

One of the longer Flex-A-Tee’s could work for someone as a short nightie.

I hope your daughter has recovered well.

Hi again.  Our daughter was only 12 years old (now 34) in the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne (orthopedics ward) and made a full recovery.  She had an extensive spinal fusion due to scoliosis.   I used the 'soft and flexible velcro' which is less scratchy and kept the back of the gown split (like a regular hospital gown) as she was on her back the entire period of traction.  It actually surprises me that hospital gowns have fixed sleeves given the need to either disconnect IV lines or pass the IV bag through sleeves if you need to change the gown.  I wonder if openings might be an issue when commercially laundering gowns but for personal use they are fantastic.  I can see a whole range of conditions that your tees would assist.
