Hello everyone, my name is Kath I had a stroke in 2023, right side hemorrhagic, left side affected. Believe it or not at the time I recovered beautifully, worked my backside off and returned to work in 10 weeks, granted I was using aids for walking butI felt OK.
Then in April 24 I had Gamma knife radiation to treat an inoperable AVM that they found had caused my stroke.
In June of that same year I started having some pretty serious falls, my fatigue became next level and my emotional regulation, temperament and day to day functions have been affected. By May of 2025 I had to leave my career, and I've been home ever since battling symptom after symptom and my superanuation insurance etc....
My issue is when I had the stroke I had a very understanding elderly GP who was very understanding of my concerns, fears etc.. unfortunately he became very ill then left so I have been (for lack of a better phrase) GP shopping since, one wouldn't even take me on as a patient after only one appointment. I am frustrated and extremely alone.
I was wondering if anyone here is in the North Brisbane area and may have some ideas on who has great empathy and the ability to lead the care I need including reporting, diagnosis, and stroke awareness.
The GP I saw last week told me I need to be open minded then prescribed a myriad of drugs I'll never take including suggesting monjuro cause I could do with loosing 10kg's to help me from falling. I am not opposed weight loss at any time but I am not overweight as he made me out to be and I felt so emotional when I left.
So please if anyone on here has any great recommendations I would so appreciate it š
Kath xx
