It has been a while since my last 'blog.' Christmas, family and just the day-to-day all filled my time. My recovery continues to be quite good. Apart from the fatigue, some days are nearly normal - not quite, but nearly. Many years prior to my stroke I was on blood pressure tablets but came off them due to an unforeseen side affect. My doctor believes I am not 'normal' as everything seems to be back-to-front! For example, when I am resting my blood pressure goes up but the more active I am the lower it goes. This posed a problem when I was last on blood pressure tablets as during activity my blood pressure would drop to extremely low levels. Well, as with many people who have suffered a stroke, I am now back on blood pressure tablets and the same thing is happening again! When blood pressure goes too low one gets light-headed and dizzy; a person who has had a cerebellar stroke battles light-headedness and dizzy spells most of the day. So, combine the two and you have a many days where your "place is all over the head" (as the Dare milk add says). Still, that is a challenge for my doctor, not me. As for the rest of it, I no longer use a walking stick, although some days I wish I had it with me; I am driving again and becoming more confident with each lone outing; my concentration span is becoming longer but my ability to read for any length of time is still not as it was. Still, life is good and I have found renewed vigour despite the fatigue.
Ros.
