I had my stroke 2wks ago... was in hospital for 8 days...

Have no feeling on my left side as its mostly numb... can move it ok

I noticed while still in hospital that I was tired all the time.. figured that would be the biggest hurdle I had to over come...

Boy was I wrong... im forever nauseous and its hard to do anything because if I'm not feeling sick I'm always wanting to rest... even though the 3 oldest try to understand I feel as if I'm lazy, usless constantly letting them down 😭😭

HI Shadow,

Rest up, be kind to yourself, and know that yes it is a very difficult adjustment to life after having a stroke.

Recovery and healing do not end after being discharged from hospital.

Be king to yourself, listen to your body and rest when needed. It's a long journey fir yourself and it's also hard for those around you as they don't understand what you're going through. You all are going through adjustments and it takes time

Hi Shadow,

You have just started your real recovery 'trip.' So, give your brain some time to calm and understand what just happened. Other people, that include your family, don't know how you are mentally and physically feel since your stroke. It takes a long time for all of them.

If you feel tired, sleep. Your brain will thank you.

Thanks.. play podcast for partner and he falls asleep 😭😂 he says that he has some idea of how easily I get tired

What follow up appointments have you had since coming home? I suggest speaking to your doctor about the fatigue and nausea you are experiencing. Were you referred for follow up with a specialist or allied health professional*?

Yes I have got OT and Speech coming to see me at home...... but everyone loves to tell me how well I'm doing and how they think I dont need much help..

Mean while people close to me notice the difference ànd my mother who had a stroke 10yrs ago feels like she only one who understands and who is not laughing at me .
