im a newbie, hubby had pons brain stem stroke September 2025, left side affected, I’m just wondering if anyone has had Botox in their affected limbs , if so could you please share with me your positive results/ negative results, hubby is having his 1 st course of treatment this week to his foot and hand , , we are hoping to see some sort of improvement ,
You do know how it works , it strengthens your muscles temporarily then wears of , idea is you have physio so you strengthen your joints to hopefully loosen the limbs , after that period you might get use again and you might not . Unfortunately it is a last resort . Good luck and hope it improves you . Me am too badly injured from a stroke .
Hi there Kath 😁 I've had botox in my arm & toes. It's fantastic, I love it! However, my hand therapist doesn't want me to get in my hand anymore, so I won't. I'm also thinking about trying it out for my bladder because I'm tired of getting up to go to the toilet in the middle of the night. Hope this helps! Stay strong
I had a stroke 6 years ago and I have botox injections in my left leg every 3 months. It has been a great help to my recovery as I work with a physio to improve my foot from dragging, walking and strength.
I have had Botox injections into the parotid glands (cheeks) for 2 years every 6 weeks for salivation control. Works well. Look younger I joke!!
Secondary to dysarthria following a second stroke ( small vessel disease in corona radiata) 2 years ago.
Hi Kath. I have left side weakness from a stroke right side brain. I have Botox in left tricep so I can more easily do exercises with my exercise physiologist, plus forearm and hand to loosen the clawing to more easily wash and dry my hand plus lower leg to lessen the clawing in my toes for walking. I have found it very helpful for loosening my tone/spasticity. I also take Baclofen a drug for spasticity. Hope it goes well for your husband and for your big job as carer.
