Hi all,
I would like to share with you, an adult neurological communication clinic that we run at Australian Catholic University in Melbourne. The clinic is overseen by a qualified and experienced speech pathologist, and the therapy (individual and group) is delivered by our 4th year Speech Pathology students.
In summary, we provide assessment and ongoing management for clients living in the community who present with:
- Communication and swallowing impairments of neurological origin including aphasia, dysarthria, dyspraxia or dysphagia as a result of stroke, ABI or progressive neurological disorders
Our service can often fill some gaps in the community, for clients who:
- May reside in residential care, and had there rehabilitation "cut short" due to physical impairments, but could benefit from ongoing speech pathology rehabilitation (more than that available at their facility)
- Have completed their compensable rehabilitation or period at community rehabilitation centres and could benefit from ongoing therapy at a higher intensity than that offered via community health
- Would benefit from a short burst of therapy or specific short-term goal related speech pathology input
We charge a nominal fee for services at the ACU clinic.
If you think you, or someone you know, would be appropriate to attend the clinic, or would like to discuss this further, please contact the clinic. Details as follows:
