Hello! We just moved to Sutherland from Seattle in America.
My wife is in her 40s. She has limited mobility on her right side (no hand, able to wall/do stairs/etc. but slowly). We were very active outdoors before the stroke.
We figured out how to be active again in the US. Now we need to figure how to do it in Australia.
In the US we bought a custom bike (electric and recumbent). It was great! She was indipendently mobile and active. It's not legal here.
Does anyone have any experience with adaptive bikes in NSW?
We found outdoor/gym groups for people with physical disabilities. It helped us figure out what activities/gear could work. We also found a pool that was very disability-friendly.
Does anyone have experience with that kind of support in NSW?
Any other mobility or activity suggestions?
Finally, Sutherland is temporary. Are there places we should consider moving to with great communities/organizations/accessibility/etc?
Thanks so much for any suggestions/support!
