Hi Will
Thanks for reaching out and sharing your story, it sounds like you have come a long way in your stroke recovery.
The links that Diana has posted are great resources, and most of what I would suggest has been discussed in these questions.
Dizziness is something we talk about with a number of stroke survivors, but it can be difficult to say for sure whether, in your case, the dizziness will resolve fully. Many stroke survivors, like Ian, find that tailored therapy with an experienced vestibular physiotherapist can help better manage the symptoms.
Have you seen, or are you seeing a physiotherapist? A vestibular Physiotherapist can help develop an exercise program specifically for you. Like Ian has also mentioned, it is important to continue with the program developed by the therapist in between sessions at home to gain benefits.
It is also a good idea to discuss your symptoms with your local doctor or neurologist, to ensure the symptoms are not being caused, or exacerbated by other factors such as medications you may be taking.
There is a great blog post on EnableMe that you can find here, which talks about the causes of dizziness following a stroke and some of the strategies that may help. I would start by speaking with your treating physiotherapist (if you are seeing one), or depending on where you live there are private vestibular physiotherapists or public clinics that might be options for you. We would be happy to talk you about some of these options.
You are more than welcome to give us a call on StrokeLine and we can talk with you in more detail. You can call us on Ph. 1800 787 653 and we are here Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
Best wishes
Siobhan (StrokeLine)
