My 56 year husband had a stroke 11 months ago. He was approved for NDIS funding in July, discharged from rehab hospital at that time too. He has severe left hemiplegia and unable to walk or use his left upper limb at all. The OT place looking after him took 5 months to conduct 4 trials to submission of AT reports for approval with NDIA for the suitable wheelchair (manual chair with power assist wheels, one hand operation). The NDIA did approve the funding fairly rapidly, the funds paid to the wheelchair supply place 3 weeks ago. The funds have sat with them with no action for the past 3 weeks - the timeframe for supply of said chair is up to 12 weeks. Is this a typical amount of time to wait for a wheelchair ie. 9 months from first trial to eventual supply? What have others experienced for supply of a custom wheelchair?
