The Stroke Foundation is calling for expressions of interest from people with lived experience of stroke to join a Consumer Reference Group. Members of the group will provide input in to the content of the guidelines, drawing on their lived experience.
The Stroke Foundation, along with our partner Cochrane Australia, will test a model of 'living' stroke guidelines. This model will ensure new research is included right away rather than wait many months or years. This work is funded by the Australian government over three years.
Who should consider expressing interest?
We are looking for anyone who is a stroke survivor, or carer/family member of a stroke survivor who would like to be involved with shaping national recommendations regarding stroke care. We are seeking people from various locations and experiences (including a mix of stroke survivors and carers/family members).
What is expected?
- Most of the work will be done via email or phone (or videoconferences via internet).
- Training and ongoing support will be provided by the Stroke Foundation.
- Likely to require 5-20 hours of your time over 12 months.
- Appointment on the group is a voluntary position.
- All out of pocket expenses will be covered by the Stroke Foundation.
Response required
To express interest or make an enquiry please get in touch with Peta Bates by November 30, outlining if you are a stroke survivor or carer/family member.
