It's hard getting people to understand that fatigue is way, way more than tiredness.

Fatigue is in a class of it's own.

-

Fatigue is common after stroke, with 50 percent of survivors in one study saying tiredness was their main problem twelve months on.

Have you found a way to explain describe it, so that people understand?

Fatigue is when my brain shuts down. Nothing goes! Difficult to explain/understand, but that's how simple it is! Maybe to put in a picture - a Marathon runner struggling to get across the finishing line (I think that there is a famous footage).

Hi, new to the forum. I've had one CVA and two TIA's, I've had fatigue from the get go. 2006, 2014 and 2018, it has been the main contributor to my 30 year career in the RAAF to end. Some days I rest more than get things done. It seems to be getting more frequent, anyone else?

Hey all,

Have you heard of the spoon theory?

Hi Tim, I hear you. In the beginning, I fought against my fatigue to little avail. Only when I accepted my fatigue and took breaks whenever I felt it, I manged it better. However, I had to leave the workforce, as I couldn't 'compete' with the healthy ones. Having said that, it was also a bit of good timing - I'm happier since I left the workforce and look at a new stage of my life! I wish you all the best!
