I found this article, 'My Dyslexia', very interesting. Even though my problem is aphasia, dyslexia (or to correct alexia) is very close, maybe the same. As the author wrote, 'it is basically a learning difficulty and coping with dyslexia is a very personal journey.'
She uses the same words we use for our stroke journey.
'frustrated'
'persist'
'didn't deter me'
'worked my arse off'
'need support for their invisible disability'
'still feel so ashamed of'
'We have tenacity and grit'
'So why did I keep going? To make a difference in the world.'
'To teach and inspire'
To read this article while drinking my coffee, I thought and pondered, 'Yes. I will battle my aphasia because I want to make a difference in the world.'
I want 'to teach and inspire.'
Damn that was good coffee!
