Hi everyone
I have been thinking about how when at rock bottom and I was very confused about everything throughout my recovery . And this confusion occurred many times - I would get on track and then suddenly I was back to self doubt and thinking really terrible stuff.
What was something I did in those times - I turned on the CD Player up load and listened to two songs repeatedly ,. I danced , and when I say dance , I mean moving my body around to the beat - no Beyonce moves in sight ! I sang very badly along to the songs.
These songs were, and this was back in the 90's however they are both on my iTunes playlist :
Things can only get better , by Dream - in my mind at the time things couldn't get much worse !! I so love the beat of this song .
I will survive by Gloria Gaynor , the chorus is all I needed.
I have used music in all types of moments through recovery , from listening to a walkman in hospital to ABBA and having nursing staff bop along and share their favourite ABBA tunes/stories with me.
Listening to classical music when feeling messy headed and overwhelmed with life/family. When at home with young children music was always on in our house :-)
.So after all this talk I really wondered if anyone would like to share their songs which mean something to them in recovery? Enable me is such a valuable platform for the stroke community to be a part of and contribute to .
I can't wait to see if anyone responds !
