Thank you, Helen, for sharing this video of Katherine Wolf with us. Moving forward after stroke – "you never move on after suffering....you can move forward, but the reality is that you are never going to forget.

For Helen, she says, "there’s hope whilst going through suffering … it's a process which means there’s a light at the end of the tunnel! We were not punished, yet life’s journey has hit us with this suffering - but we can come out stronger."

Yep...you never move on....and you never get back to old you...and never stop mourning, but you are grateful....to be present in some new form and in some new life....

Thanks so much for sharing this for me. It’s such a message of hope to me and hopefully will be for many others

Diana, it is 11 years since I had my hemorrhagic stroke and I can identify with what Helen says.  But I am guarded sometimes in my views because I feel like I am expected to show my pain and suffering over my disability.  I like the new me, I have more time in which to really appreciate what I have got instead of what I haven’t. But I am wary about voicing my opinion in the way that Helen does.  I love the way in which Helen speaks with such passion about this.

Hi Mandy,

Thanks for commenting. It was Helen, a member of the Stroke Foundation Facebook page that showed me the video. Kathrine Wolf is amazing. You can follow all her videos on Youtube.

I am happy to hear that you like the new you. Acceptance is important. Have you seen the trauma growth videos that Adrian did for the Young Stroke website? They may resonate with you too.
