The Stroke Foundation is an Australian not-for-profit organisation that works with stroke survivors, carers, health professionals, government, and the public to reduce the impact of stroke on the Australian community. Our mission is to Prevent Stroke, Save Lives, Enhance Recovery.
We are seeking expressions of interest for two roles.
Consumer Council member
The Consumer Council represents the interests and viewpoints of stroke survivors and stroke carers and increases our capacity to influence debate, policy and service delivery.
It is a requirement for all Consumer Council members to be either a stroke survivor or a carer of a stroke survivor. These positions are honorary appointments.
Stroke Foundation values diversity and works to ensure that the interests and views of all stroke survivors and carers are represented and strongly encourages People with a lived experience of stroke and people from all cultural backgrounds to apply.

Board Director
The Stroke Foundation Board is seeking to appoint a Special Interest Member who represents the interests of survivors of stroke, those at risk of stroke, families of stroke survivors, and carers. As a Board Director you will:
- fulfill all the legal and fiduciary duties of a director of a company
champion Stroke Foundation’s vision, mission and values to both internal and external stakeholders
- serve as an ambassador and advocate for the Stroke Foundation at public events, and
- develop and maintain beneficial relationships with donors, funders, supporters, collaborators and other stakeholders to further the Stroke Foundation’s mission.
The Board is keen to hear from candidates with a lived experience of stroke and professional experience in one or more of the following specialist areas:
- Financial accounting, Corporate Finance, Investment management
- Legal
- Government, Department of Health, Public Sector
- Business development, Corporate
