When I first went into hospital I was told I was on the "Stroke Pathway" with a suspected stroke even though I had no FAST symptoms. Does anyone know what the Stroke Pathway entails? I'm wondering why they didn't do a CT to confirm stroke at the time. I was monitored for a few hours then sent home. The CT wasn't done until I was re-admitted hours later after experiencing more symptoms (I never had any FAST symptoms, just vision loss initially and nausea and pain before the second admission).

The Stroke Pathway is actually about the hospital response protocol to a patient with a suspected stroke rather than a type of stroke. Mostly I'm just wondering why they sent me home without a CT scan. Everything I read talks about the importance of getting a scan quickly so you'd think it would be a part of standard protocol for a suspected stroke. I don't know if it would have made much difference since they didn't really do anything after I came back in pain and they finally did the scan. They just sent me to a bigger hospital that monitored me for three days then sent me home.

I guess I'm just trying to make sense of what happened to me so I can try and move forward.
