1st Feb 2020 I was sitting under our Queenslander, enjoying a cuppa watching the chooks run around in the backyard. I watched my wife walk down our back stairs and come to sit down with me.....She noticed that I was "asleep" and so she tried to sneak back up the stairs so as not to wake me. I tried to call out to her but the sound was different BUT it was enough for her to hear me and so she returned. That was when she noticed I was not ok. She "woke" me and and we tried to work out what had just happened. I had literally been floating in the floorboards, and hell didn't want me that day.
So, after I caught a cab to the hospital - there was nothing wrong with me afterall, LOL. The triage nurse recognised my symptoms immediately and I was taken straight into emergency and an hour later I was laying in the stroke ward of the hospital.
I am currently 45 and have had a further 8 TIA since that day. Nobody can give me an answer why. I now walk with a stick as I have partial loss of use of the left side of my body with numbness/tingling 24/7, brain fog, regular vision loss in my left eye, suffer extreme fatigue, speech issues - slurring and stuttering plus, plus, plus...
I was an on the road salesman but after that was ruled out when they took my licence - which I 100% agree with but...I am in constant pain and now have a memory like a goldfish. I am a technical support person these days but find it so hard to concentrate/function all day at work. I used a lot of my personal leave/long service leave so that I could work 4 days per week but I have been told by my workplace that is no longer an option. I can not afford to stop working for my health, but I am at a point at which my body needs me too.
I am exploring avenues for support from government but was wondering if anyone else has any advice?
