The Summer Foundation aims to change policy and practice related to young people in nursing homes. As part of this, they are holding a series of workshops for those who are likely to be eligible for NDIS Specialist Disability Accommodation payments (and/or their family members).
The shortage of appropriate housing for people with disabilities is a huge problem. This is an opportunity to people with high and complex disabilities to influence developers, housing providers and funders. The purpose of these workshops is to describe what the future of housing for people with disabilities could look like. Bring along your ideas on home features, accessibility, location and how ongoing support could be delivered.
Following each workshop, participants will receive an individualised write up of their ‘Housing Vision’ – a great tool for use in planning meetings to pursue housing goals.
If required, the Summer Foundation can pay your travel and support costs. Refreshments are provided too!
Workshops will be conducted in a one-to-one discussion format with places limited to 6 per workshop.
Workshops will be held during July and August. Locations are:
Ballarat
Geelong
North Eastern Melbourne
Western Melbourne
Launceston
Northern Adelaide
Southern Adelaide
Canberra
South Eastern Sydney
Nepean Blue Mountains
Brisbane
Cairns.
