Measuring energy This study aims to determine how much energy people with stroke use when walking at different speeds, and which devices (e.g. Fitbit, Garmin sports watches) can accurately measure this. Interested participants will attend a one-off 2 hour assessment with a physiotherapist at the University of Queensland, during which you will walk at 8 different speeds, while wearing these lightweight devices (e.g. Fitbits) and a device that which will measure how much energy your body is using (metabolic cart).use when walking after stroke
There is a study running at the University of Queensland (St Lucia) which is measuring how much energy the body uses when walking at different speeds after stroke and which devices (e.g. Fitbit, Garmin sports watches) can accurately measure this.
If you are interested, you can attend a one-off 2 hour assessment with a physiotherapist at the University of Queensland, during which you will walk at 8 different speeds, while wearing lightweight devices (e.g. Fitbits) and a device that which will measure how much energy your body is using (metabolic cart). We can provide some help with parking and transport. Updates to follow soon!
