Hi everyone,

Just a quick shot showing the leaves are disappearing in Japan and winter is here. I hope you are looking forward the summer and the Christmas break. Work and my classes have been good, but a couple of misses and embarrassing moments in the classroom remind me that aphasia is sitting on my shoulder every day. But, we know each other quite well now.

Our journey are very long and hard, but sometimes a simple thing like a puddle can remind us there beautiful days to come.

Hi Marcus, Your photos are beautiful, you have great skill in capturing images. Simple things like your puddle remind me to mentally say “thank you” for each and every day. This picture is from a recent plane trip, the day was a special one and had a lot significance for me, thought I would share it.

Hi everyone,

Marcus and Brenda, both beautiful additions for the December group of photos.

I am adding two photos.  The first is a bush from our garden which unfortunately through heavy frosts and not much rain during winter has died.

But as I mowed the lawn recently I noticed that in it's passing it has sent up a new shoot which I have been watching over and making sure I don't mow , when this shoot gets a little bigger I will relocate it.

Hi Sue and Marcus, Yay for new shoots!! Sometimes I still feel like a new shoot 16 years after my stroke, growing into the new me. Hugs Brenda

Hi Sue and Brenda,

Thank you for joining the group!

Aren't sunsets beautiful? I love taking a variety of evenings in unusual places like in puddles and in the airplanes. I must have 30 extra shots of pools in black and white, and full color. Your shot is great.

Sue, I like your bush. I told you I'm working on a project combined with my shots and 'thoughts' (I can't call them poems!), and your 'bush' is quite similar to two or three photographs. I have taken shots of shoots, budding trees, and old trees. These shots represent my brain before the stroke and after many months (year?) of recovery.

This morning I took a stroll to a shrine half-hour from my home. I like this shrine because it is in a beautiful and serene setting and the sun was just rising over the hills, showing the brilliant moss and old stump. Like your shoots, I hope we all have long and comfortable lives.

Marcus

p.s. Same stump, new shot.

Hi Marcus and Sue,

Our Stroke group logo is a tree that has been burnt by fire but now has new growth, our slogan is from is “From adversity to new growth”. If you ever take a photo of a tree like I would love to get a copy. Cheers Brenda

Hi Brenda

I know this is not the one your group is looking for but I thought I would send it anyway.

This broken tree is used by boars to scratch themselves so it is very smooth and has a natural bonsai. Quite cool.
