As Stride4stroke finishes up in November and I have nearly clocked 200Kim of exercise activity for the month, I'm feeling like an athlete !
I do think of those who physically are not able to exercise due to their strokes and how this must be so difficult to live with. I know myself the enjoyment I get out if being active. Not to mention all the good it does me. With medical advances I hope that the ability to fight stroke continues to make a difference.

Hi marcus i am just 3month stroke survivor am thankful i am able to function : to look at me i seem normal- i,m not! - need feedback!, does anyone hope terrible numbness every day especially on rising with perpetual stiffness and pins and needles which moves on right side.? Finding very upsetting. Is this all i get.? Is brain beginning to get sensations back to normal!going for 2nd acupunture treatment today apprehensive as to treatment, hope this will kickstart my brains pathways.to stop numbness and stiffness!,I have same sensations every morning and cant sleep past 6am! Help

3 months post stoke, still a confusing time. I was wondering if you have had the chance to see if there are any stroke support groups in your area. The isolation from having a stroke can be horrible. With the pins and needles giving you so much grief is this also making you emotional?

Hi sue, joined almond tree trackers walking group for first time on thu- walked about 3kms ,that was enough! Will try to walk longer next time but very slow! Had acupunture yesterday and was told my chi was beginning to move!, still very stiff this am- going to town on bus=cant believe 1st december already!,- will keep pressing on little by little!,, have to believe acupunture will help as well!

Sorry for the late reply but sometimes I have to do work and stop writing on EnableMe! Isn't it an excellent place to share tips for healing, recovery, and stroke information.
I never thought that I would say to someone else that this is a 'confusing time' because for the last 3 years plus have been 'confusing.' It took mid-year (this year) to feel more comfortable with my disability (aphasia), anxiety, going back to the classroom.
I think getting out to meet people and taking exercise is one of the best ways to reconnect your brain, and more importantly, feeling the sun, wind, and see trees (a bit of hippy philosophy, I know!).
Little by little, you will get better, but it takes time.

Thanks marcus i guess i want it all yesterday!, learning to take little steps-i know i will lose my stiffness etc really think acupunture will help and maybe i need a big lesson in patience!,, thanks for all your encouragement along my journey,,👌👍🏽

Every stroke is different and so is recovery. I had a stroke 18 months ago and I can say that time is your friend. Recovery is not a sprint, it is a marathon! For me, it was about the right mindset. Do the things that make you happy. I also hope that you have family/friends - avoid isolation! It helps to talk about what is bothering you - people around you don't know how it feels - you need to tell them so that they understand. I had to explain to my loved ones that every day for me starts with questions: where, what day, what time, do I need to do anything...
What helped me was humour - keep smiling.
