In less than 12 hours we will be stepping into another new year, many of us with new year's resolutions and renewed hope and a sense of excitement for the future... I would like to wish the stroke community, be it stroke survivors or carers a blessed and happy new year. Keep the fight against stroke going....there is always hope, andbtherebisblifevaftervstroke. Keep your chin up & keep chipping away. May your hard work reap good results for you in your rehab efforts. I just completed 5 years post stroke on 28 Dec and am always looking for ways to keep moving and ditchnthevsedentary lifestyle that probably got me in trouble in the first place! Sending positive vibes to this wonderful & supportive community. Thanks for being there yet again in 2017 as in the years past!

Thanks for your good wishes Mahlia, bringing together everyone's good vibes is a positive energy !!

Mahila and Sue.   Thankyou for your messages of encouragement. 2018 has arrived. I have reread David Roland’s book ‘How I Rescued My Brain’. Second time around the book has touched me more than ever. I have reset my rehab program. My leg strengthening exercises three times daily. My mobility has slipped backwards and I am not happy with that as my plan is to return to a daily short walk  with confidence.  I think the mobility is ruling my life and I do not like that one bit.  I enjoy daily meditation as that soothes chronic back pain. Actually I have started a diary so I can see what makes a comfortable day. My physio supports me with changes so watch this space  for news.     warm wishes to all as we set out on another year of recovery

Hi Jenny,

Yep - you go for that short walk with confidence in 2018!!

Diary's are amazing friends, and I hope that your hard work pays off.

I hope your continued meditation practices ease your back pain.

Thanks for sharing and yes David Roland's book is a very good read isn't it :-) I was fortunate to meet him in 2016 when he ran a writing work shop in Dubbo which is a couple of hours drive from Bathurst here in NSW. I enjoyed the day thoroughly!!

Have a good day!!

Sue

Great news. This morning I did go for the short walk, one block way to IGA . I broke through the fear barrier. The anxiety was all about my back or leg pain. Both those issues felt fairly comfortable this a,m. So I decided to go for it.   Proud of myself.   Thankyou for your encouragement Sue. I see myself s on the right track again. Jenny

Well done Jenny. You go girl. Great start to the year, hope you'll finish strong too. I had been postponing getting myself an activity tracker, but am glad I purchased a basic one (and cheap too)this year. I am able to motivate myself to do more in terms of activity compared to the previous day, especially walking which the tracker makes possible. I too am planning to work on improving endurance this year as I have had to sit down to catch my breath when  walking even just for 5 minutes or so in the past which is a pain. Let's stay motivated and I'm sure we'll keep our new year's fitness resolutions and kick some goals in the process. Hugs to all.

Oh superb work Jenny!!  I have thought on your IGA store - Independent Goal Achieved!!

A huge cyber hug to you, I have a big smile on my face as I read both yours and Mahlia's posts.

I know a typed message does not contain the animation in my message that I am writing this with but I do believe in the power of positive encouragement.

Go Mahlia!! Yes encouragement all the way for your fitness goals. Hugs to you and enjoy setting up your new tracker.
