OK, I'm now nearly two most post my ischaemic stroke and all is fine except that I still have double vision (diplopia).
How did others go recovering full vision here?

Hi, not sure if my experience is similar to yours, but I was blind after my stroke. I had a number of eye surgeries Aug/Sep last year and was able to see again. Only recently, I had a cataract operation (left eye) to fix my double vision. I'm fine now. I was a patient at the Eye and Ear hospital here in Melbourne, and must say that they have been amazing. Cheers, Michael
You've had excellent treatment Michael, and I'm very pleased that your vision has been restored. That must have been a scary time.
Hi Traveltext
I'm sorry to hear you have double vision after your stroke. Our vision fact sheet has information on causes, management and recovery: https://enableme.org.au/factsheets/vision%20loss%20after%20stroke%20fact%20sheet
This is a complicated area, so it is important you receive individual advice. Talk to your doctor about seeing an ophthalmologist, if you haven't already.
You can also speak to one of our StrokeLine health professionals during business hours. Call 1800 787 653.

Now just three months post the stroke and my double vision is resolving to single vision.
What a relief. This means I have no lasting damage from the incident.
im glad to see others have had vision issues, especially double vision. I'm exactly 6 weeks on from a major pontine stroke and by far my biggest worry is my eyesight. im encouraged to see that it may indeed be possible for it to return to some normality. Good to see your story Traveltext.
Hi Nigel, Tell about your stroke and the remaining eyesight issues. Cheers, Rod
Hi Rod, thank you for the opportunity to unload my issues. My stroke effected my right side. at the worst of it i had no movement in my leg at all and only the slightest movement in one finger.
6 weeks on i can safely walk and do basic functions with my right hand/arm. All that is progressing nicely i think. My eyesight, in particular the double vision thing is driving me nuts.Sometimes its pretty good, other times quite annoying. If i cover either eye its fine. My eyeballs are struggling to line up i guess. did you have similar? It may also relate to when I'm fatigued, which is yet another problem I'm trying to deal with.Whenever i asked doctors during my 5+ weeks in hospital/rehab i never got a straight answer.
cheers, Nigel
