I had a RMCA stroke 8 years ago. As a result of which my lefy side is severly impacted. Sonce having the stroke I’m on cholestrol medicatio, aspirin and Baclofen to manage spastivity. I’ve been wanting to be a useful adult by giving back to the community by donating blood. Given the vario medicines I am on, will I be able to donate blood to save lives?
Anybody can give blood but in your case, I'm unsure about it for there are also some restrictions in donating blood. For more accurate answers try to find a blood center near your area. Thanks for reaching out with this great question. I am sorry to hear about your stroke but it is great to hear that you are wanting to help others by donating blood.
According to the Red Cross, stroke and TIA survivors are not able to donate blood due to having a chronic medical condition. They also state that when taking blood, blood pressure can also be affected which may cause issues for a stroke survivor.
According to the Red Cross, anyone who has had a stroke or TIA is a permanent deferral, but if this changes, the information on the Australian Red Cross Lifeblood Website will announce this. I am sorry about this as donating blood is a great thing to do, but there will be other ways you can help others. If you would like more information, I would suggest calling the Red Cross on Ph. 13 14 95. They can talk you through the specifics of this decision.

best to ring up the blood bank to see if your acceptable , its upto the blood bank to say yes or no , as far as i know they cant filter out you medication in the blood , but i could be wrong ..
