Tony picked up drumming after has stroke to try to get back movement in his arm – and it helped!!

He says, "After my stroke, drumming gave me a goal to work towards as I knew what my left side could do prior to the stroke and I wanted to see if I could get back full use of my arm.

It was frustrating at times because my left side didn’t work as well but I persisted! It lifted my spirits to be back playing with my drumming group and I felt accepted even though I wasn’t I wasn’t drumming as well as before my stroke.."

If you're looking for an accessible drumming group StrokeLine has a list. Call them on 1800 787 653.

We’ve been talking about what hobbies peeps use for rehab on Facebook. Barb reached out and shared her happy place. Barb rides horses for the love of it, and for ongoing rehab. It helps the body and the mind. Call StrokeLine on 1800 787 653 to find out about accessible horse rising near you.

Barb will join the thread too if you have questions.

Steve reached out and wanted to share this video of him talking about getting back on the waves with James.

After a stroke left Steve partially paralysed he didn’t think surfing would be an option, but he’s here to tell you – it is!!

Me none at all , body is badly damaged and cant do a hobby .Atleast I encourage people to take up one , good for your brain to be active .

I was great at knitting before my stroke.  Luckily i can still do it, however i find i have to keep jumping on utube to remember some things that I know were really simple before.  I am good if there are no distractions especially if i am making something that requires counting, however if somebody talks while i am half way through a row it can be very difficult.  Great workout for the brain though.

Fantastic work out for the brain, Russ.

When did you have your stroke?
