Hi,
I realised I added my query to someone else's feed as I had no idea what I was doing (sorry) ... š.... I got one reply, thank you Toni, however, there may be others who can also provide me with some insights.
I had a stroke on Cup Day morning last year and was quite severe. I have no common risks factors (no high blood pressure, no sugar, not over weight, no cholesterol, etc) so on investigating, they found I have a PFO. I understand 1 in 4 people can have this which may or may not cause problems for people. In any event, it's been recommended the PFO is closed.
It's a fairly non-invasive procedure, I'm told, but I'm more interested to hear from anyone who's done the closure, what their pros and cons are, how long adtee your stroke did you close the pfo, have you had another stroke since closure and why, and have you had any heart issues after the procedure (ie. AF).
I'd love to hear from others experiences to help me decide which way to go. I'm 45 years old and a mum of 3 young children. I want to do what's best for me to be able to raise my children and be with them and my hubby. I'm blessed I've recovered really well after my stroke and my clot retrieval too.
Sorry for the long post. x
