EnableMe | enableme - stroke recovery and support

I watched an episode of The Good Doctor a couple of days ago. Sean had picked up on the fact that some of Dr Glassman's behaviour was out of character and wanted him to get tests. In the end Dr Glassman agreed to have an MRI (mainly to get Sean off his case). The MRI revealed he'd had a Stroke that he wasn't aware of. He then struggled with the realization that his life has changed forever. I felt every emotion. I know this is fiction but was so close to home for me. I hope shows like this help get the message out that not everyone has F.A.S.T. symptoms and Strokes can be sneaky. Both of mine were.

Stroke's can be very sneaky. I just shared this blog from Linda. She had two strokes 30 years apart. The first one was put down to a funny turn.

And you might want to connect with Chris. His strokes were thought to be migraines.

I suffer with Occipital Neuralgia (ON )and I'd had a massive headache which I thought was an ON flare but it didn't respond to my usual medications. I started to feel dizzy and this increased over a few days until I called the Health Hotline. The paramedic who attended wanted to treat me for Vertigo and leave me to call a GP the next day. I insisted on being taken to ED and an MRI revealed I'd had a stroke and it wasn't my first. There was scarring from another recent stroke.

Now I'm suspicious of every headache or ON flare.

I bet you are. I can imagine that you are exhausted by it too. How to you manage your emotions around flare ups?
