Steps after stroke

So sorry to hear the news of your mum suffering a stroke. It must be a difficult time for all of you.

I would recommend you speak to the office of public advocate or public guardian in your specific state of Australia to assist  you with  any legal questions you may have regarding  medical or enduring power of attorney.

It would be worthwhile contacting The Australian Aphasia association who provide support and advocacy for people with aphasia and their families - https://aphasia.org.au/

Don't forget it's important that both you and your father look after yourselves as carers.-Carer Gateway offers support for you as carers via phone counselling, support groups and respite options- https://www.carergateway.gov.au/

Is your Mum linked in with a Speech pathologist?  They can be very helpful in providing insight into your Mum's condition and  strategies and tips to assist all of you in effective communication avenues for day to day living.

Not sure if mum and dad are eligible for my Aged care because mum is only 48 years old, but I'll take a look at it. 

There is a speech pathologist that comes and checks on her in the ward. If that answers your question :)
