17 stroke activists have been in Canberra for the last two days talking to MP’s about the state of stroke in Australia. Stroke Foundation data has shown that three states and territories don’t provide 24 hour access to clot busting drugs, and most Australian hospitals don’t offer the latest in clot retrieval technology - ever though an Australian team invented it!
Almost 20,000 people didn’t receive full benefits of stroke unit care, and close to half don’t receive a discharge care plan. Here is a copy of what we have asked for from the Fed Govt. If we don’t get funding more people will die unnecessarily, or be left with disabilities that could have been avoided. There are more photos on Facebook.
