It sounds like your Dad is on the road to a good recovery so far which is great news.

Suffering a stroke can be a very difficult time, not only for the stroke survivor, but also for their loved ones around them.

It’s nice that your mother is being protective of your father, but it’s good to alleviate any unnecessary worries if possible.

In relation to the COVID booster vaccine, we don’t have Doctor’s present here on StrokeLine, however we do have a clinical council with medical members on board that do review and contribute to all relevant information on our website.

I can’t help with medical advice, but as a survivor of ischemic stroke (June 2019) I can say I had my vaccinations including the booster (just over 2 months ago) with no ill effects.

I’m now one week post confirmation of a covid infection and I’ll add that the mild experience of the virus was still very disconcerting. My symptoms were increased fatigue, a sore throat of a morning and night and a little bit of a runny nose. 4 days after my positive result, I felt like the air wasn’t being taken up by my lungs properly (monitoring with a pulse oximeter indicated that I wasn’t being deprived), walking from one end of the house to the other was exhausting and made me feel much like the early days in my stroke recovery.

I hope your parents are happy to talk about any hesitations with their GP and/or Neurologist, and your dad continues well in his recovery.

There are risks with any immunisation , but to bring on a stroke , no , theres been no records of a booster bring on a strike , we know what might be a factor such as high blood pressure but I doubt it very much it can cause a stroke .

I'm glad to hear your dad recovered well. Personally I would do some research before he commits to any (booster). I think your mothers concerns are well founded. I myself had a stroke 11 months ago lost the use of my whole right side. I learned how to sort of walk again my arm and hand is still not functioning rite. Now getting down to your question to do or not to. I know of one person who died after there vax and it was clots with no underlying conditions and another who ended up in hospital with heart problems at 18yrs after vax and there's just two of many more I've heard of since. As there is no safety data that I have found and the 55yr non disclosure by the manufacturers make me just a little sus. In the end it's your dads decision and he'll do what he thinks is best for him.
