Hello Everyone ,

So I wanted to bring up a subject close to my heart - and stomach. Food.

A  topic of conversation around me as I recovered in rehab and eating mush, white mush , grey mush , beige mush, was what did I want to eat once I was home.

Did I want a spectacular meal. No.

My request was very simple however the thought of the taste made my mouth water.

A Baked Bean And Cheese Toasted Sandwich.

The thought of  ooey gooey baked beans mixed with melted cheese was on my mind as I was faced with ice cream scoops of MUSH.

So I would love to hear from you about what foods desires you had or still have ?

😁

Hi Sue,

Food ...

I loved all types of food: fish, meat, vegetables, chocolate, wine, and beer. However, due to my heart and epileptic pills, so many favorite goodies have been taken from me. My diet is admirable because my wife is an excellent cook and she checks what I am eating or dinking. As I write this comment, I am drinking a 0.0 % 'beer', not very good, but I am just pretending this is a full beer.

As for food, my latest trip to the hospital was quite good. I am not going to say that all Japanese hospitals have great food, but compared to the food that my father had to eat in the hospital in Hobart 6 years ago, Japanese hospitals food are like 3 star Michelin Restaurants. They have fresh, healthy, and delicious.

Hi Sue, My experience with food is somewhat different as I was never admitted to hospital. But stroke had definitely affected my relationship with food and cooking. I used to love cooking and throwing things together but now i follow recipes...or try to. Unfortunately I often end up missing an ingredient, despite ticking things off as I go. It was quite interstign when I maed a lime coconut brulee cheesecake  the night before it was rqired and when I got up the next mornign there was the tin of coconut cream staring back at me from the pantry. At least we can laugh about it :)

Thanks for adding your thoughts Toni and Marcus,

Marcus , so good to know that your hospital food experience was not so bad and yes that would be a challenge getting used to what you can and can't eat with your medications. Tell me what exactly is a 0.0% beer ?

And Toni , was your cheesecake still tasty? Laughing at the mishaps, yes very good for our souls! Keep smiling

Sue

Sue,

I call it Trump beer.   It looks like beer it's smells like beer and taste like it but doesn't have any alcohol.  This is very popular in Japan because 0%  alcohol for driving a car.

Hi Sue, yes the cheesecake was still nice and tasty and I have since made it with all the ingredients and it was great :)

I like all kinds of food too.

Hi Marcus ,

Well there you go , I didn't know Japan had a 0.0% for driving . An interesting fun fact I've learnt today.

Hi Toni ,

Your cheesecake sounds yum. What's the recipe ?

And hi Avaniterg ,

Thanks for your thoughts. Do you have a favourite food ?

My husband used to try and make ordering from the menu at rehab sound enticing bless him and would put on an different accents as he read out the choices to me- the meal would still be blitzed to an unrecognisable pulp ! But we had some fun at least ordering it.

My husband being a chef at the time was more mortified than me I think about the food I was presented with!
