Fit and Healthy

My stroke was in April 2016 and I worked my butt off to get back on my feet, and then back to work.

For a year, every day was about working hard physically and mentally to get to "my normal, now".

I was a lacrosse goalie prior to my stroke and quite active and fit, although not as fit as others on the field as I didn't have to run far! :)

Three months ago I contracted Ross River Virus and since then have not been able to get motivated.  I have no get up and go and have turned into a couch potato which is so unlike me.

I got myself a pool membership six weeks ago, for aqua, but had to put it on hold. I just couldn't cope with all of the noise around me.  The music, looking, following, and listening to the instructor, in a totally different environment.

I have a treadmill, balance board, and exercise ball here in my lounge room, but just cannot get motivated!

How do you motivate yourself to exercise and eat healthy?

How did you get your motivation back?

Any ideas very welcome.

HI Kjets,

How do I motivate myself to exercise and eat healthy.

I do surround myself with positive and active affirmations, knowledge of grief and loss and impact this has on ourselves, I seek out whatever it is that will help me move forward with my life in the way that makes the most sense to me.  So knowing me, what makes me feel good and what doesn't is a start.

However I am not recovering from Ross River Virus.  I know that one can knock people about majorly. When I was in a very bad/sad state over the years, I would look at doing just one thing and focus sing on that one thing and the pleasure I would get from that. Maybe I would then repeat that one thing, maybe I would explore another. I was spontaneous about finding a way forward at times,

Best of luck

Sue
