Be heard this state election
The next Tasmanian Government has an opportunity to bridge the stroke divide and deliver a better health plan to improve access to stroke treatment and support in our state so more patients survive, avoid disability and recover.
Tasmanians are among Australians at highest risk of stroke and are also likely to suffer some of the poorest outcomes due to treatment and care lagging behind the rest of Australia.
The Stroke Foundation is calling on the next Tasmanian Government to commit to action that will save lives and we need your help.
A video message from Stroke Foundation Chief Executive Officer Sharon McGowan to Tasmanian Candidates
We are advocating for:
- FAST community education to reduce stroke and speed up treatment.
- Tasmanian Telestroke Network and endovascular thrombectomy service – to improve access to time critical, life-saving stroke treatment.
- New stroke unit at North West Regional Hospital in Burnie delivering care closer to home.
- Tasmanian Stroke Patient Follow Up service to help Tasmanians live well after stroke.
- Establishing a 'Community of Practice' to improve access to best practice care across the state.
