Two & a half weeks ago I had an ischaemic stroke & suffered weakness on my right side & was unable to speak coherently. Frightening as it was, I was very fortunate to be transported by ambulance to hospital in time to be treated successfully with rt-PA, the clot-busting drug,& I regained strength & movement of right side (i.e.arm & hand, and leg & foot) quite quickly. My speech remained a little slury but continued to improve over the following two days, after which time I was both surprised & delighted, to be discharged from ICU to home. I would be very interested to hear of other stroke survivors' experiences & recovery after thrombolysis.
