Thrombolysis

Hi Debbie and welcome to EnableMe.

It's interesting for me to read of your experience of receiving Thrombolysis and how quickly you have regained walking and your speech !!

You may be interested to know that back when I had my stroke in 1993, 2 weeks after experiencing Pre-eclampsia and losing our first baby, I was a part of a trial involving treatment using clot dissolving drugs . 

I at the time was 22 and knew that I had been very lucky to have survived and very lucky to have been given the opportunity to receive this treatment. I was in hospital and rehab from April to June relearning to walk and talk and all that is involved in early recovery.

Last year I had the absolute pleasure of meeting up with my treating Professor from this time who let me know of the advances in stroke treatment and gave me examples what you have just described in your post.

Having a stroke is certainly a scary event and knowing that there a places such as EnableMe and Strokeline dedicated to supporting survivors  and families is good to know. I hope you find some helpful information as you have a look around EnableMe.
