Are there any online stroke support groups available for people based in Tasmania? The VIC and NSW online support groups seem to be only available for people from that state and the local TAS support group (not online) only meets once a month and is over an hour drive away. Feels like support for TAS is falling through the cracks a bit. Disappointed :(

Thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear that the face to face groups are so far from you. It can be difficult as there are many areas where there are no support groups. I'm pleased you are reaching out. The Stroke Foundation do not manage the stroke support groups as they are developed and maintained by individuals, but we do have them listed on EnableMe, and thanks to Diana who has posted the link above.
The Victorian and NSW online groups mainly provide support for people in those states, but they try to offer access to those who don’t have opportunities in their own state. I would suggest giving Rachel or Michelle at the NSW Stroke Recovery Association a call on Ph. 1300 650 594 and talking with them about what might be possible. I would also suggest calling the Stroke Association of Victoria a call on 03 9670-1117 or emailing them at info@strokeassociation.com.au and asking them the same. Hopefully you will be able to join one of the groups.
Depending on the age range you are looking for, there are also some younger stroke survivor groups on Facebook, and the Genyus Network (a trauma survivor network that aims to promote the prevention of mental health disease arising from stroke, brain injury and other disorders of the nervous system, or life-changing trauma), Genyus network holds online coffee club for their members and their family members/support crew if this would be of interest to you.
