An excellent documentary.
My Beautiful Broken Brain is a 2014 documentary film about the life of then-34-year-old Lotje Sodderland after she suffered a hemorrhagic stroke in November 2011, initially completely losing her ability to read, write, or speak coherently.
David Lynch became an executive producer of the film.

Something for me to look into this weekend I think. How have you been? I've been a bit quite on EnableMe lately.
Absorbed by the daily goings on of life.
I think back to a very bad time in my first two years after my stroke - I was so severely depressed I couldn't even concentrate to watch a movie. Ugh - not good memories indeed. So I have to say I do pick and choose what I watch and am exposed to, and this movie looks right up my alley.
I will let you know how I find it.
While I was in rehab I was let out (I sound like I was in prison!) to watch a movie and we went and saw a movie called Benny and Joon (Johnny Depp and Mary Stuart Masterson - 1993). It was a movie about a couple living together who had challenges such as acquired Brain Injury and Intellectual Disability. The movie so touched me at the time as I left the theatre in tears as I thought about the discrimination I may experience once home. Who would have known how deeply I was processing thoughts when I could barely even communicate.
I was so hungry for any awareness raising information I could find about positive recovery from Stroke/ Brain Injury during my own recovery, to always hope that one day I would feel more at peace with myself.

Good to hear from you. I do hope you enjoy this film as I found it extremely interesting, her visual problems, spelling, writing and comprehension troubles. These are the same things that I went through and still going through.
Also, I am halfway through David Roland's book, 'How I Rescued My Brain', and I am finding it interesting, although the first part of it - the family and marriage problems - was not so absorbing, but the next part about the brain and neuroplacsticity and trying to find how to rebuild his brain. I have read a huge number of articles in regard to neuroplacsticity, so it was good to see that I am on the right track. Another writer I find fascinating is Jeff Sebell. His thoughts about dealing with a TBI really help me to understand the problems I had, have and will have. One of his last post on this blog, TBI Suvivor, talks about accepting and creating your own life rather that trying to live up to other people. That is what I am trying to do: live in the world/work but in my terms.
That is what I have been trying to deal with over the last couple of weeks. I even started writing some terrible peoms/thoughts alongside with my photos .... interesting and challenging, but not ready to share with the world, albeit only EnableMe!
