Accessing funded support after stroke

I'm not an NDIS expert but....I doubt you could get funding for childcare, you might get assistance in home supports. I'd look into when your area becomes NDIS active, I know Qld is a bit behind NSW, and start planning to participate in the NDIS.

A very very good question.  Do you have any Brain Injury Units local to you or even a Community Health Centre.  For your family to maintain what is a very good thing for you to return to work after your stroke the need for you to be supported to maintain this is essential for the well being of your whole family.  I would be interested to hear what you find out.

Sorry to hear about your stroke, it must be extremely tough juggling small children and returning to work. Fatigue is very common after stroke. As Adrian has suggested you could try NDIS, although they tend to fund people with moderate to severe disability and those considered to have a permanent disability. It might still be worth calling to enquire on 1800 800 110. 

Are you still seeing a rehab team? Can you chat to them about local options? There are a range of private home care providers you could look at engaging if you were in a position to pay privately. Other things to consider would be recruiting family, friends, any mother's group help to get you through this early stage while settling back into work. Setting up a timetable/diary and getting everyone to chip in with child minding, drops off and pick up can work well for some during recovery.
