Before I had my stroke, I had slipped over on the job but didn't report it. I did go to my Gp about my right elbow was very sore. He put it down to Tennis Elbow. I had a Cortisone injection which seemed to have helped.

Since I have had my stroke I am finding the muscles in my left upper and lower muscles. Prior to having my stroke, my daughter and I had a physical fight and she had kicked me a couple of times in my chest which fractured my sternum, then the week later I had the stroke. My Massage lady thinks that the muscles around my sterum may have affected the arm muscles. I have starting to go to Yoga to help hopefully with the weekly massages.

The other issue I facing, which I'm frightened to have rechecked is my eyesight. I have had my eyes tested since the stroke, he did see anything unusual other than the normal declining eye-sight, but 4 months later I feel that my new glasses do not seem to be working well for me. I cannot see from afar, like the words on the tv, even signs in the shopping centre, road signs unless I get closer to them.

Would my eyes faulting or maybe that there is a fault in the new glasses? I'm scared in case my eyes are failing. I don't have any physical injuries, as I can walk, ride my bike, maintain my house etc

Hi Sheryl,

It’s good to hear that the massages and yoga are helping with your arm pain. You might also want to think about getting an assessment by a physiotherapist to make sure the management is appropriate for you. You can find a physiotherapist on The Australian Physiotherapy Association’s website here.

Vision changes can happen over time. If you are finding that the prescription glasses are not working effectively for you, it will be worthwhile for you to go back to see your Optometrist. Your optometrist can recheck your vision and give you some guidance on any changes they may have seen since your last review 4 months ago. It is completely normal for your needs to change over time, so they will be able to guide you in the right direction. If your optometrist has any concerns, you may be advised you see an Ophthalmologist, an eye specialist if more detailed assessment is required on your vision.

Hi Joanna, thank you for replying.

I went to see the Optometrist today. My eye test is the wame but possible dry eyes which can cause fuzziness in my eyesight, so I have eye drops for a few weeks to see if it improves.

I have also got another set of glasses as my main ones are descending, meaning I have 3 levels in my lens for reading, normal and long-distance, so I have chosen to have to get new glasses just for tv and driving, Will see how that goes.

 

Thank you for the information about my arms, I will get my Dr to get an MRI of my chest as well just incase its from my fractured sternum.
