Hi I am in Victoria. My mother has had a stroke and is in a country hospital. I live interstate and we are still waiting for an echo to try and get her into some sort of rehab. It is over 2 weeks post stroke and don't know what to do or where to go for advice on options. I want the best care but am a loss of options.

I live in a regional area in NSW and know how difficult it can be sometimes. I wish both you and your mum all the best with her rehabiliation.
I would suggest you speak to what ever facility is suggested to gauge the services that they provide.You may also be able to see how they performed on the national stroke audit in terms of service provision.This will give you some idea about the quality of stroke service they provide. If going to a private hospital enquire about the same things, amount of therapies they provide daily, do they use interventions listed in The stroke guidelines like constraint Induced therapy,electrical stimulation body weight support training.

Hi Izbel,
you may have already done this but requesting a family meeting were you can teleconference in and speak with the clinicians (medical, nursing etc) that are caring for your mum may give you the opportunity to get better information and ask questions.
