Hi Georg,
Thank-you for reaching to Ask a Health Professional at the Stroke Foundation. I’m sorry to hear about the concerns you have post the removal of your brother’s tracheostomy tube.
We are not Medical Practitioners and therefore are unable to give you any guidance with this process. We would encourage you to reach out to your brothers medical team to discuss your concerns.
If we can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us on StrokeLine 1800 787 653 or email strokeline@strokefoundation.org.au. We are available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm AEDT.
Best wishes,
Jo (Strokeline).
He might need a 2nd operation to close the hole , and ask a proffesional , he might think it doesn't need closing and plenty of people sill with a hole , it's not life threatening , but a nuisance especially if you can't speak .
