Hi Sue,
Thank you for your question. When was your stroke? It is always best to check with your neurologist or GP if you have concerns as they know your full medical history. Have you made a good, near to full recovery?
Generally, if someone makes a good recovery and their thinking/planning/memory, coordination/strength/sensation and vision are ok and there is no medical reason (such as cardiac issues, poorly controlled high blood pressure, etc) there wouldn't be much stopping someone from returning to these activities. Are you still seeing a rehab team? You could discuss any concerns you have with your occupational therapist or the team.
There is no driving for a minimum of one month after stroke, then you need clearance from your doctor after that. For tasks like you've mentioned it is more case by case based on your specific medical history and any ongoing difficulties you may be experiencing.
If you wish to discuss further, please call StrokeLine on 1800 787 653.
Best wishes,
Simone (Occupational Therapist for StrokeLine)
